Not Your Script — Volume One of The Loom

Eleven months into his Antarctic posting, an engineer finds a shed that isn’t on any map — and a cable buried under the ice running somewhere warm.

The Loom does not watch the world. It feeds it.

> What if the story arrived before the event?

> What if attention is the only vulnerability left?

> What if the ice is not hiding something — but holding it?

> What if you are already written, and only now beginning to read?

Not Your Script

Antarctica does not forgive attention. Joe Ferreira has spent eleven months in his Antarctic posting repairing other people’s machines and learning not to ask who owns them. Then he finds a comms shed with no number painted on it. New screws. A clean compliance sticker. A timing module still warm to the touch, and a fibre line buried tight beneath the drift that has no business being there.

Outside, the drones do not attack. They arrange. A corridor of light. A mist you cannot see. A mark every sensor will agree on, and afterwards a story that arrives already printed. The Loom does not hunt people. It edits them. Somewhere beyond the ice, a version of Joe Ferreira is being written that everyone will believe.

He has a handful of colleagues who might listen, a wife and two children he is not permitted to locate, and a voice message from his mother in which the third sentence is wrong. It is a phrase that belongs to his grandmother. In her mouth it has only ever meant one thing: come now.

Every system depends on people not noticing.
He noticed.

“When the world tried to become a story, he touched something that could not be persuaded.”

Rosen Dimov

Rosen Dimov has spent more than fifteen years working inside the systems that shape technology, institutions and public life.

Born in Bulgaria, he left after high school to study, work and live in multiple regions of the world. At twenty-two, he became the youngest adviser to the President of the European Commission. His path has since crossed law, business, engineering and international affairs.

Today, as a manager in a global tech company, Rosen works across emerging domains in ethical and responsible artificial intelligence. He is an associate professor, leads his own ventures, supports fellow innovators, and serves as an Envoy of Estonia’s e-Residency programme.

Rosen’s work has also taken him through impact investment, social entrepreneurship, peacebuilding and campaigns for democratic digital ownership.

Different fields. The same underlying question.

Who builds the systems around us — and how much of our lives do those systems quietly begin to write?
